~ someone must have tried to install redhat [w] on the mazda, because it gave me a signal 11 of its own while i tried to enter the 110 south from third. though it is a little tougher to get a ride at 2am, i must say that i much prefer breaking down on the freeway in the middle of the night to stalling out at 9am in beverly hills. i was able to meet quite a few people – some nice, some belligerent, some uniformed – and one couldn’t ask for a more spectacular view of los angeles at night than you get while stranded on the 110 & the bonaventure. and it only costs $70! (engine repairs extra!)
~ swapped out the ram, every combination of the cards brought the same ‘signal 11’ error. managed to pillage the desk of an absent student, providing a second monitor for the cause. now that we don’t have to share a monitor with ‘planet’, the failures should be coming much more rapidly.
~ linux situation: alright some disk manipulation has gotten us to an all new error: ‘signal 11’.
~ linux situation: burned the .iso files as image disks, as should have been done the first time.. booted up, install ran until: ‘failed to read /modules/module-info’.. then i am told it is ‘safe to reboot my system’..
~ the angry red planet road to linux*: downloaded redhat-7.0-i386-disc1.iso and redhat-7.0-i386-disc2.iso.. burned each one onto a cd. rawrite.exe’d boot.img to a floppy.. fdisk’ed the c-drive.. booted with the floppy.. can’t detect the redhat cds.. realized something is amiss..
