philadelphia experiment part two

31 December 2004 _ 13h41m15 EST
related content: ,

~ for those of you who have figured out that the previous post indicates that the angry red planet has left behind us the sultry clime of atlanta, you may be curious as to the whereabouts of our new operations. we have established a tenuous foothold in the city of philadelphia, pennsylvania.

a dot

~ Hats off to Maxtor for their design of hard drives which, once dented by Amtrak baggage handlers, are able to have their function restored by Stanley pliers and Victorinox blades. If the USPS is able to deliver the final package, which contains the face plate to our work station, to our new offices, we can start the history of philadelphia project.

a dot

~ our year end donation from the meager post baroque [w] earnings, also serving as a holiday gift, have caused some consideration on our part, as our intentions for local support were called into question by the late out pouring of contributions to international humanitarian organizations in the wake of the tsunami attacks. However, new reports such as “…Tons of supplies were backlogged in Indonesia, with thousands of boxes filled with drinking water, crackers, blankets and other basic necessities piled high in an airplane hangar…” coupled with our general bias against the bias towards people, we returned to our original intention of Paws Atlanta.

~ we will be out of town for the anniversary that occurs tomorrow. though it is still not time to see it pass without acknowledgment, we find that the prospects for our country’s political future are too dire to allow for detached melancholy at this time. so instead we will share with you a figurative image which for us has been a warm memory for the past three years, one of the few we can still remember as an unqualified pride in america:

you are in an impromptu blood donor line on the plaza before new york’s city hall, waiting with the only other b-pos blood donors, a black man and an indian woman. the man asks asks, “where are the cameras now?” as you gaze across the plaza and see helmeted construction workers helping doctors and nurses climb into the back of a scorched dump truck, preparing to drive back to the world trade center. silently, you are pleased that there are no cameras.

~ tom tomorrow [w], of all people, has compiled some links that lead one to believe that there were (are?) kids being abused by u.s. troops in abu ghraib prison, including a teenage girl who was made to strip off her clothes. if true, i wonder if rush limbaugh will call this a fraternity prank, as well.

fuck condoleeza rice

8 April 2004 _ 15h53m22 EST
related content: , ,

~ dr. condoleeza rice must have said fifty (50) times that the administration didn’t know the ‘time, or place, when or where’ of the 2001 terrorist attacks. we can assume that everyone already is aware of this; since the attacks were allowed to happen, we must hope that the administration didn’t know about them in advance. however, given this yammering excuse for their past failure, the listener or critic can presume that administration will only take steps to prevent a future catastrophe if the perpetrators provide a complete spreadsheet of the logistics for their future actions.
why are these suits whining that the u.s. citizenry can not expect them to do their jobs unless the enemy, aka those who ‘hate freedom’, takes out an ad in the washington post, along with the marriage and funeral announcements, that declares when they will strike, so the government will have a chance to respond? dr. rice’s crew’s job is not to complain that they don’t know anything; their job is to know these things.
the fundamental question should be, ‘why were you unaware of this threat?’; the answer should not be an angry, ‘because we were unaware of this threat!!’.
yet, we thought that regular americans were crybabies.

a dot

also unsettling is today’s allusion to the notion that there are big problems down the road if iran pursues a course of nuclear capability. now, iran is a sovereign nation, albeit one with a corrupt regime, so why is it our business if they choose to build a nuclear arsenal, considering that france and china have their own? the answer given is that iran supports hamas and hizbollah. however, these groups are israel’s concern; in fact, hamas even mentioned recently that they have no plans to target americans. the only bone these guys might have to pick with us is that the u.s. supports israel’s illegal occupation of the west bank.
it wasn’t mentioned in so many words, but israel’s violations of international law are being transmuted into our problems and possible war with a nuclear-powered, fundamentalist iran. all this is in spite of the angry red planet’s boycott of tropical source chocolate.

~ we have been trying for ten (10) days to wish you a happy black history month (despite our distrust of institutionalized factionalism) and to inform you that updates to this log will cease immediately and indefinitely for reasons both personal and professional. in the past three years, we have made this claim a few times, and, as evidenced by the fact that you are reading this, we have never gone through with it.
on the other hand, we have repeatedly returned after a week of silence to mumble that we will be updating more often, only to disappear for a few more weeks. so, for once, in the name of consistency, we are declaring a policy of silence and we are intending to enforce it upon ourselves. we feel that this policy will be in effect for as long, at least, as our new york offices remain open, but the change could be permanent. check back in a couple days, just in case.

~ before we go, we hope to see many of you, new yorkers and oakies alike, at the march or demonstration or whatever ends up happening in manhattan this saturday. details: http://www.unitedforpeace.org [w]
