A triple car bombing struck a food market in a predominantly Shiite area in central Baghdad on Saturday, killing at least 51 people a day after a U.S.-Iraqi raid against Sunni insurgents in a nearby neighborhood.
It is now 1,356 days since the US-led invasion on March 20, 2003. So far 3,138 coalition troops and 6,375 Iraqi military have died.
Estimates of the number of civilians killed varies from 125,000 to more than 650,000.
