~ congratulations to the amazing spider-man for his 500th issue.
~ congratulations to the amazing spider-man for his 500th issue.
~ happy black history month! on an unrelated not, before february ends, why not take a look at at the top 10 (plus 1 alternate) greatest spider-man covers of all time?
~ we have not determined which is more disturbing: the mysterious arrival of an unsolicited copy of henry miller’s ‘quiet days in clichy’ in our mail room or the simultaneous arrival of an equally unexpected copy of george foreman’s ‘george foreman’s knock-out-the-fat’ cookbook.
~ our readers who nobly serve in the fdny should consider removing the tattered, smog-stained flags that you have been dragging behind your trucks for the past 16 months – unless, of course, it is your intention to desecrate your national banner.
~ the latest issue of ‘tangled web’, ’twas the fight before christmas’, is a hollow, disgraceful attempt to repeat the formula that brought acclaim to last year’s ‘open all night’. regardless, some in our office have indicated that they would like to make the acquaintance
of the young lady who works as santa’s elf – hopefully before johnny storm puts any more moves on her.
~ since it apparently has become acceptable for children to be taken out of school en masse for showings of the ‘spider-man’ motion picture [w], the anticipated peaceful morning viewing was stolen from our angry red agents. enjoying instead banana muffins and post offices on 125th street; we turn this weekend’s attention to films with apparently less public educational value, and therefore less noisy, snotty vermin, such as ‘dogtown and z-boys’ [w].
~ the angry red planet originally endorsed the plan of waiting until may 16 to see ‘spider-man’, thereby undermining support for the latest version of ‘star wars’. however, after a few minutes of reflection, we have decided to allow our entire offices the day off, and in 30 minutes, they will be enjoying the first ‘spider-man’ showing in harlem.
~ if you are at all concerned at the possibility of new restrictions on civil liberties in the united states brought by the ‘uniting and strengthening america act’, then peep the new action alert online at aclu.org. especially frightening is ‘section 213’, which would allow the badge to inspect a house or apartment in secret. luckily, senator feingold is intending to amend this, as reported in yahoo news [w].
~ when paul mccartney releases a single to benefit world trade center relief efforts, he seems like a decent guy; when Michael Jackson does it, he seems like a child molester.
~ we still have not reached a conclusion concerning the finale of peter parker #35…
~ from hotline:
terra cimmeria: ‘…how do i know you are not the admin and are looking for a reason to boot me?’
xxxxxxx: ‘please…i just want to download carmaggeddon and i don’t know anything about computers.’
terra cimmeria: ‘ok, ok…it’s dana/dane’
~ i really hope the movie does not look as bad as the first half of the clip with the helicopter, but you can view the ‘spider-man’ movie teasers at jurassicpunk [w]. it is no doubt superfluous to point out that the soundtrack for this marvel movie is crap, since the faithful expect nothing else.
~ ok, you still need to wait just as long, or short, but at least now you can tell that you are waiting and that nothing has gone awry…scene 4!
~ our recent travels have not kept us from following the amazing adventures of peter parker, and our disgust at the recent weakly turning of events has formed a schism between the great deal of occurrences to talk about and the great reluctance to give credit to any of them. we did not want to see mary jane return in the first place – though we knew it would happen, right when everyone most expected it – so, not only were we depressed to see the inevitable mistake finally unfold, we were also offended at the pitiful manner in which the situation was resolved: she was locked in the basement of a diner by a nobody who appeared for just this purpose – the kidnapping – then exploded, inexplicably, at the end of the story apparently for no other reason that page 22 was approaching. not only are we denied any climax that would have let us forgive the return of mary jane, but, we are given an explanation for her disappearance that is absolutely senseless. she is kidnapped because some guy, who has never been seen before, wants to make peter parker suffer because they share, for no visible reason, the same memories? however, after one issue, he changes his mind and explodes?? no norman osborn? no black cat? not even freaking professor warren? we have seen better stories unfold on diaryland…
~ some images added to the folio, under the ‘spring 2001’ section; let us know if you can find it. the newest scene report has been uploaded, but there is no time for linking it, as we need to run down the street and gawk at the filming of the spider-man movie! look for the scene report tomorrow.
~ happy martin luther king, jr day! eleven more days until the final review. then its time to see if there is more to los angeles than dozing off…at 4am…behind the wheel…on the 10…at 80 miles per hour…to the sounds of ego trip.
~ more of the same old spider-man movie news, but this article at entertainment weekly http://www.ew.com/ew/report/0,6595,94826,00.html contains an almost worthless photo of tobey maguire in the suit.
~ thesis quote: ‘i haven’t had a tv in four years….i’d rather read proust.’
