~ fall has arrived in los angeles. it’s freezing outside; the temperature is somewhere in the 70’s. now, the neighbors seem to have made a regular procedure out of breaking into the windows of their house. every time they arrive home, they sneak down the alley and rip the bars off the wall and crawl into the window. if i was on speaking terms with them, i would tell them about the keys and doors that i use.

~ zine lovers and do-it-yourselfers in the arkansas area should plan on spending the labor day weekend at the 2nd annual tickstock, in central arkansas. this is the description from their announcement:

~ in less than 4 hours, the neighbors fail to let me down: they forego the usual bickering and fighting and name calling in which they usually engage to pass the time. instead, they proceed to lock themselves out of their house then promptly hammer off their own ‘burglar bars’ and tear out their own screen and window. perhaps an anonymous caller will notify the cops of a possible break in…

~ after an internet-free-access weekend in forsyth county, georgia, the angry red planet vacation has come to a halt with the uneventful return to los angeles…

~ having returned to my native soil has enabled remarkable progress to the forthcoming releases by the angry red planet zine department. previous ‘coming soon…’ promises expect to be fulfilled by the 13th of the coming october, which is, coincidentally, a friday.

~ the angry red planet has been doing more than just churning out obsolete technology, though. research has continued in the motion picture department: ‘wargames’, ‘tron’, and ‘space cowboys’

~ cnn.com reports that more than a few reporters are upset with the treatment that they received at the hands of the los angeles police department. some technicians and photographers were shot in the back with rubber bullets and bruised in the ribs by billyclubs; these incidents occurred as the cops were trying to shoot protesters in the back with rubber bullets and bruise the protesters’ ribs with billyclubs.

~ the lack of updates over the past week is due to the third cross-country road tour of the summer. this time, a course from los angeles, california, to atlanta, georgia, was set through winslow, arizona, fort smith, arkansas, and memphis, tennessee. the digital camera was lost at during the first day and did not surface until after the arrival on the east coast. so, no graphic updates will be available for a while.

~ unsatisfied with reports that puts bush, jr. sometimes 17 points ahead and sometimes dead even with al gore, the angry red planet has held its own poll of the ‘major’ candidates. the results are as follows: 50% ralph nader, 50% al gore, 0% george w.bush, 0% pat buchanan. where are these gallup folks [w] getting their information?

~ the angry red planet weekend work retreat was held in the lovely sequoia and king’s canyon national parks [w], in search of the great sequoia tree. while taking a break at lodgepole, we noticed that the u.s. flag was being flown at half-mast, indicating that a national figure or hero had died. naturally, we assumed that it was president gerald ford, hoped that it was president’s son george w. bush [w], but never imagined that it was old ben….

~ we were just singing ‘too hot’, and the question of ‘what ever happened to coolio?’ arose. has coolio gone the way of axl rose?
