statement Considerations of the sustainable, efficient, recyclable, or otherwise 'green' issues in building do not have to come at the expense of Architecture. A responsible building is a service to society; it may demand a generic form, but function can no longer be disregarded by the subculture that develops around the hero-architect. This attention to notions of responsibility can be more radical, more 'avant garde', and - most importantly - more beneficial, than pandering to the spatial, material, or graphic demands of the contemporary architecture subculture. The thesis aims at curbing expansion without slowing progress through the investigation of techniques such as reuse of existing buildings, discovery of site, reinterpretation of program, and application of efficient technologies.thesis content written by and property ashley moore, 2000-2015 valid: xhtml css |
